What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced “Ray-key”) is a system of natural healing that works on every level, not just the physical and is thousands of years old. The technique is believed to have been used by Buddhist monks and was then re-discovered in the early 1900’s in Japan by a man named Mikao Usui. The word itself is Japanese, meaning “free passage of universal light”, Rei means spirit, ghost and soul with Ki meaning life force energy. We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us and we experience a sense of well being. There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki works at bringing us into balance and is believed therefore to reinforce the body’s natural ability to heal itself at all levels, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system.
What can Reiki do?
Anyone can benefit from Reiki treatments, no matter what your age, religion, health etc. Ideal for almost any problem, be it physical or emotional as it helps to rebalance mind body and spirit whilst stimulating the body’s own natural healing abilities. As a Reiki practioner, I do not diagnose and clients should be aware that Reiki should not be considered a cure all for conditions. Reiki is a form of natural healing that can enhance and support other forms of treatment.
It can produce :
- Deep relaxation
- Reduced stress & anxiety
- Boosted energy levels
- Feelings of inner calm, contentment & serenity
Reiki can also help you to :
- Feel more confident, positive & able to cope
- Deal with stressful people/situations easier
- Develop a strong sense of purpose & clearer thinking
- Deal with negative emotions
- Enjoy a better quality of life
Reiki is a totally safe, non-intrusive system of ancient healing that involves the laying of hands either on or just above the body. The practioner will work around the body in various positions and acts as a channel for the energy to be recieved by you, helping to produce a state of balance. It is a wonderfully relaxing session and no two people will have the same experience from Reiki. Some experiences can include sinking or floating feelings, heat or cold from the practioner’s hands, tingling sensations and sometimes nothing other than a really deep relaxation. Be assured though that whatever your experience with Reiki, it is right for you at that time and the energy will go to where your body needs it most.
